Ferric Citrate

Uses:

• Treatment of iron deficiency anemia in adults 
• Control of serum phosphorus levels in patients with chronic kidney disease on dialysis 
• Improvement of hemoglobin levels by increasing iron stores in the body 

Side Effects:

• Diarrhea, constipation 
• Nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort 
• Dark-colored stools 
• Mild headache 

Rare: severe allergic reactions, high iron levels (iron overload)
