Composition: Torsemide 10 mg / 20 mg
Category: Loop Diuretic

CLINICAL BACKGROUND (FOR MR UNDERSTANDING)

In CKD & Heart Failure patients:

  • Fluid retention common
  • Peripheral edema
  • Pulmonary congestion
  • Hypertension worsens
  • Cardiac workload increases

👉 Proper diuresis improves outcomes.

Compared to Furosemide, Torsemide offers:

  • Better oral bioavailability
  • Longer duration
  • More predictable effect

 MODE OF ACTION (MOA)

  • Acts on Thick Ascending Limb of Loop of Henle
  • Inhibits Na⁺/K⁺/2Cl⁻ transporter
  • Promotes sodium & water excretion
  • Reduces preload & afterload

Clinical Effects:

✔ Reduces edema
✔ Lowers blood pressure
✔ Improves heart failure symptoms
✔ Decreases fluid overload in CKD

 INDICATIONS

  • Congestive Heart Failure
  • CKD with fluid overload
  • Nephrotic syndrome
  • Resistant hypertension
  • Peripheral edema
